Data Sources & Content Removal

Effective September 1, 2026 · Last updated September 30, 2026

This page explains how MoonScroll obtains and uses public social-media information, what we derive ourselves, and how creators and rights holders can request correction, exclusion, or removal. It is meant for both customers and people whose publicly posted content may appear in the Service.

Privacy rights requests are also covered in our Privacy Policy. Copyright takedowns use the process on our Copyright and Content Removal page.

1. Supported platforms

MoonScroll’s research features focus on publicly available short-form content from:

  • Instagram
  • TikTok
  • YouTube

MoonScroll is not affiliated with or endorsed by these platforms, Meta Platforms, ByteDance, or Google.

2. Categories of data sources

We obtain public social-media information through:

  • Third-party data providers that supply publicly available profile and post metadata
  • Our own collection and processing, where applicable (for example, temporary media processing needed to produce transcripts or other analysis)
  • Information you submit, such as brand websites, handles you add to an audience, or content you generate in the product

We do not publicly identify individual data vendors. Public-content research features do not necessarily use the official APIs of Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. Unless we expressly say otherwise for a specific capability, MoonScroll’s analysis should not be treated as official platform analytics.

3. Public information versus inferred results

Information in MoonScroll generally falls into these groups:

  • Public profile and post information (usernames, captions, timestamps, links to the original post, and similar fields)
  • Engagement metrics from external sources (view, like, and comment counts as reported to us)
  • Metrics calculated by MoonScroll (rankings, outlier scores, fit scores, and similar proprietary measures)
  • AI-generated findings (transcripts, classifications, summaries, pattern labels, embeddings, and recommendations)

AI-generated findings and proprietary scores are not official platform metrics. They can be incomplete or wrong. Third-party source data can also be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.

4. Official APIs and embeds

For research and discovery, MoonScroll generally relies on third-party data providers and related collection methods rather than Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube official analytics APIs. In the product, public videos are typically displayed via the source platform’s embed, not by hosting a lasting copy of the original file.

Separately, payments, email, analytics, hosting, and AI inference use their own third-party services, as listed in the Privacy Policy.

5. Freshness, completeness, and availability

Data availability, accuracy, completeness, and update frequency vary by platform, source, and individual post. Upstream providers and source platforms can change their systems or restrict access. MoonScroll does not guarantee that any specific creator, post, or metric will remain available.

6. Creator correction, exclusion, or removal

If you are a creator or other individual whose public profile or posts appear in MoonScroll and you want correction, exclusion, or removal of personal information we control, email [email protected] with:

  • A link to the profile or post on the source platform
  • What you want us to correct or remove
  • A contact email so we can follow up

We aim to process valid requests within 30 days. Where we grant a request, we remove or stop using related records we control, such as stored metadata and derived analysis for that item, and we stop displaying it in the product.

Removal from MoonScroll does not remove content from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or other platforms. It also does not recall information already obtained by independent third parties, including customers or applications that previously retrieved it through the API.

7. Copyright and rights-related requests

If you own copyright in a work shown in MoonScroll (or are authorized to act for the owner) and want it taken down, use the process on our Copyright and Content Removal page and email [email protected].

8. What happens after a validated removal

When we grant a privacy or copyright removal request, we typically:

  • Stop displaying the item in MoonScroll
  • Delete or stop using stored metadata for that post or profile, as applicable
  • Delete or stop using derived analysis tied to it (such as transcripts and summaries)
  • Remove thumbnails or embeds that would show it in the product

Temporary media used only for analysis is discarded after processing and is not kept as a lasting library copy. Customer-generated files (scripts, images, or videos you create in MoonScroll) are separate and follow account retention rules in the Privacy Policy.
